Covenant Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Fawwaz Shoukfeh to the Covenant
Medical Group family.
A Lubbock resident for 41 years, Dr. Fawwaz Shoukfeh graduated from Damascus
University Faculty of Medicine. He came to the United States in 1971 and
completed his internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Shoukfeh had his cardiology fellowship training from 1974 to 1977 at
Cleveland Clinic, which is consistently ranked as the top cardiology program
in the world. While at Cleveland Clinic, he was trained by Dr. Mason Sones,
the founder of coronary angiography. He has also had formal training in
pacemaker implantation at Cleveland Clinic and was the first cardiologist
to implant a permanent pacemaker in West Texas.
After his fellowship training, Dr. Shoukfeh and his wife Raida moved to
Lubbock, TX where he established his own interventional cardiology practice.
Dr. Shoukfeh has more than 30 years of experience with cardiovascular
research. His extensive participation in clinical trials allows him to
offer his patients devices and medication before FDA approval.
Dr. Shoukfeh cares for all of his patients as if they were his own family.
He spends time with each of his patients to ensure that they receive the
quality of care needed to keep them healthy.
In his free time, Dr. Shoukfeh enjoys spending time with his children,
grandchildren and he also enjoys traveling.
